Random Pictures

My Dad gave me more pictures from the day Garrett was born, and I loved all of them but of course I could not put all of them on here. But here are some of the best ones. Also some of the latest pictures of the boy's!

The latest pictures of Garrett! I love it when he yawns!

Ben was feeding Garrett and his hands were flashing a "Hang Loose" sign! We thought it was pretty cute!

Mitchell LOVES to hold Garrett..... Garrett on the other hand?

Ummm... this is the day we went home! Pictures never lie. If you ever think you look good, take a picture of yourself and than you will know the truth! Catch my drift.... please don't get me wrong, I know I just had a baby, but it is still hard to look at yourself, not looking the way you thought you looked!:):) Please don't comment:)hahaha

The next 3 are my Dad than Patty than my Mom holding Garrett!

More pictures of the Hospital! This one is Ben and I trying to show Mitchell that he has a brother.

Ben showing Garrett off to Mitchell? "Yeah, whatever Dad!"

Breastfeeding, Blowouts and Fun!

I took Garrett to the doctor for his 2 week checkup today. He is 6 lbs 2 oz. He is growing and doing great! I hope that it stays that way:) When I got there I took him out of the car seat to weigh him, and he was COVERED..... COVERED down to his ankles in poop! We had just given him a bath right before we got to the doctor and he needed another one! I never had a blowout with Mitchell... it was YUCKY! Rule number 1 ALWAYS have an extra outfit. Luckily I had pjs!

Breastfeeding SUCKS!!!!! I have made more effort this time than I did with Mitchell, I have went to the "natural" store and got me some tea, I have been taking a supplement of fenugreek, I have pumped till my nipples are purple. NO MILK! Ben has more milk! The thing that sucks is that last week at this time I was pumping out 2 ounces, which is just what he drinks right now. WHAT HAPPENED! Now for those of you who do not know me well enough, I seriously don't mind having my baby on formula.... in fact there is a convenience with formula that I love. But WHY don't my boobs work????? AAAAAAA! I have cried and laughed and cried and gotten mad at them, even had a pep talk with them. Whats more; they hurt like hell, I can't even hold the baby without my eyes watering! (I don't have a breast infection I already checked!) I would just like to give him breast milk for at least 2 months that is all I ask!

Now on to fun! It has been in the 70's this week and I am loving taking the boys outside to play! Well Garrett doesn't exactly kick the ball around or anything:) But you know what I mean! Anyway I just need to take more pictures. My camera is kind of broken so I have not dared take it out of the case.... its falling apart! I have the most careful husband in the world LLLOOOLLL!!!! Anyway I will try to get some pics today and post them of my beautiful boys:) (proud mom)!!!

No time!

This is my 4th attempt to write a blog post! Garrett is 2 weeks old today! He is doing so well. He is a great baby and a great eater. Breast milk is in short supply around here..... if anyone has any to sell:) Garrett does great on formula but it would be nice to have to not worry about having a bottle every where that we go. Mitchell is doing great with Garrett and I loves helping me. I am knocking on wood constantly because things are going so well.
I am completely off pain meds and able to drive and enjoying that very much. I took the boys out for my first time with 2 kids and it was great. Mitchell stayed right by me all throughout the day. We went to the park and than went to the grocery store. I felt so brave and it was not bad AT ALL! The hardest thing is making sure that I have everything with me.. like outfits, formula, diapers, just stuff!! I think it will get harder as Garrett gets older, but for now I will enjoy it and ease into the hard stuff.

Here are so pictures of what has been going on the past 2 weeks.

This is just before we went home from the hospital... cute little bean. Those are preemie clothes:)

Garrett's first bath at home! Mitchell was a great helper.

Mitchell asked to hold Garrett about 3 days after we got home! These are the priceless pictures!

I will try to be better at posting! It is hard to remember to post all the funny stuff!

Funny Things

Life is so great right now! So far so good. I am sure that it will get harder, but things are going really well so far. Both babies are asleep right now, which is probably going to be a rare occasion around here, but I will enjoy this day! Mitchell is responding so well to the baby. He wakes up talking about "Baby Garrett" and he is obsessed with his "little tiny feet" it is pretty cute! He loves to help and we are trying to balance the attention between the both of them.

We have only been home 2 days and Garrett has been such a good little sleeper. He woke up twice the first night and once last night. I KNOW that this will not last, but I will take what I have been given and enjoy it! I have far to many sleepless nights ahead of me, but I will enjoy the wonderful sleep that I have gotten!

The Delivery Story

OK for those of you who read my blog, this may be a bit boring. I am warning you that this is only for my records so if you are looking for entertainment this post may not be the one for you.

I woke up Tuesday April 7th and had a lovely breakfast, morning devotional and watched a bit of TV. Than is settled in that although I kept saying that I was not even nervous; I was. I thought I had prepared myself for this day. I loved knowing that is was coming; that I had a deadline. But I had not totally prepared myself, but I guess you can't totally prepare yourself for a child. Anyway, I had to call into the hospital to see if they were running on schedule. That made me nervous, I kept thinking they would say that they couldn't take me today, and I was going to cry. But I called at 2:45 and they said come on in! I showed up at 3:30 and they put me in a room and got me hooked up to all the monitors and I was doing great till about 4:30. Just as they were prepping everything, I started having bad contractions, every 4 minutes. Which is funny because I was only 37 1/2 weeks, so I really shouldn't have been in "labor", but whatever. So they sent in the anesthesiologist and I told him to make me comfortable. I walked myself into the O.R. and got up on the table and curled into the fetal position and was told to HOLD STILL.... that is a scary feeling when they say don't move or else you might be paralyzed. Well he didn't say that, I just thought that. Anyway, it was a weird feeling. He was SOOO great, he walked me through the whole process, I told him about my experience with Mitchell's birth and he was sympathetic and very caring. It made this birth experience so much better. So I was on the table by 5:10 and Garrett was born at 5:44. That is how fast the spinal tap set up! It was absolutely amazing, I kept looking at Ben and saying, "I can't believe this, I can't believe how amazing this is". Anyway, Garrett was born and had a bit of amniotic fluid in his lungs so he had a hard time breathing but he did great! I was wheeled in the hospital room where my Mom and Mitchell and Dad and Patty awaited our return. Mitchell did not want anything but me, and was a little hyper. So I had my Mom take him home and come see me later. I was so numb that I had a hard time breathing, I could not feel my lungs and that made me freak out a bit! I was than wheeled to postpartum and was there for the rest of my stay at the hospital! It was a lovely birth experience and it made me feel like I could do it again one day.... ONE day!:)

He is here and he is spectacular!

Garrett made his grand entrance at 5:44 pm on Tuesday evening. He weighed 6 lbs 1 oz and he is 19 1/2 inches long. He is healthy and he is a great baby!

I was going to give all the details but the room is bouncing..... I don't think that is normal! I actually feel so great, and my c section could not have gone ANY better! It was completely painless, fast and although I got sick after, I have recovered so well!

This is about as close as Mitchell will get to the baby!

Baby today! I am so excited!

Today is the big day! I am having my 2nd little baby boy today. It is 8:15 in the morning and I can't eat anything after 10- so I eating little snacks right now and big breakfast at 9:30! I am scheduled to have him at or around 5PM and I am hoping all goes as planned.

This time around feels so very different, first because I know that I am having him today. With Mitchell, my water broke late on a Friday afternoon, I labored against the doctors will for 14 hours and than I finally said, (with drool coming out of my mouth... that ones for you Stac!) "Let's do a C-Section!" I was very very sick with Mitchells delivery, it was so sad. I had an epidural that was about 12 hours old and so I felt every slicing and dicing of my c-section, and I was so dazed that I could not scream. I felt like I was watching my self have surgery... it was terrible. The only things that got me through were Ben of course, and hearing Mitchell cry for the 1st time.

All that was really scary, and has been on my mind for the past couple weeks, accompanied by tears. But here I am today, rested, and as calm as can be. I KNOW it has to be better this time, well my Doctor assured me that it will be sooo much better this time. Lets be honest, I trust my Doc with my life, I love him he is so great!

My emotions are all over the charts. I sent Mitchell to my Mom's house until Thursday, than he goes with my Dad and Patty for the rest of the week. I cried when he left, I can't believe that I am not bring him home from the hospital. It is so exciting but so much different. I know I keep saying that word (different) but that is the best word for how I feel. Yesterday we were at TJ Max and Mitchell walked up to a baby in a cart and just smiled and laughed and kept saying "baby, baby". I was laughing and wanted to cry. Its like he was preparing for this day as well, and now that it is here he is ready too. I can't believe that I am going to be a Mom of 2 boys. You never know what your dynamics will be when you decide to start having kids, but in my case I just never thought that I would have 2 boys..... I don't know what I thought I would have but whatever you get the pic:)

This day came so much faster this time around. I know it is because I already had a child to chase, but I feel like I tried to reflect a lot and enjoy being pregnant. I have LOVED being pregnant during the winter. Mitchell was in the summer so it was hot and yucky. I love his b-day though;)

I hope this little boy is ready to come to this earth and be apart of our family. Ben and I can't believe that we are having another baby today. We can't wait to meet you baby boy Gowans!!!

By the way, I will post a picture of my lovely self after I get ready for the day! Stay tuned.....

5 Days?

Well I have a long list of things to complain about. But I just can't bring myself to do it! I am so excited for this baby to arrive in 5 days! I am having a hard time sleeping right now which is so foreign to me, I have always been able to sleep. But I just can't stop thinking about the upcoming events! I am absolutely terrified; last time was not so peachy. But the best part about it was I had NO clue as to what was going to happen. I am talking about the delivery, the sleepless nights, the deformed body, the terrible pain when you breast feed, the pain killers, trying to get used to having 2 kids... and taking care of them. To those of you with more than one child, you know what my brain in going through right now! People ask me if I am ready and I say "No". When they asked me that with Mitchell I always said, "Yes, I have all of his clothes, his nursery is set up, I have a car seat..." Well I have all of that ready, but that means nothing! I am very very very excited and very nervous! Anyway, I can't believe that it is 5 days away!
